CostOS Version 8.4 Release: What’s New?

CostOS version 8.4 is now available- Check out some new & notable features!

8.4 FEATURES INCLUDE:

1) Automatically generate project code for new project creation

This Global Properties setting will automatically create a unique estimate code. For users who do not have pre-determined job codes, this added feature will ensure that no duplicate estimate codes are created.

2) Project backups

This Global Properties setting creates project backups in SQL. The user can then restore estimate backups as its own estimate to retrieve any lost data.

3) SSO filter LDAP bind

Configure the CostOS server to connect with your company’s active directory. Create SSO users as an authentication method that enables users to log in using their company credentials. When users launch the application, check SSO to be automatically logged in.

4) Assemblies Modify Condition

Assembly Modify Conditions is an added check box that enables the user’s ability to specify a “Matching Column” or “Columns To Modify.” The Matching Column refers to the column used to identify the uniqueness of the line item. (For most users, the Item Code or ID column is the unique column.)

The “Columns To Modify” is a list of every column within the Line Items table. By selecting a column in the Columns To Modify, the user is specifying that the selected column is a field to which the assembly will update the estimated value (before value) with the updated value, based on the assembly modifications (after value).

A column that is left unchecked will maintain the estimated value (before value) even if/when the assembly calculated a different value.

5) Overwrite Group Code note column in an Estimate

The Notes column is now editable at ANY level in the hierarchy.

6) Average-subtotal on productivity group code

When utilizing parent unit factors, an average production rate will be calculated based on the total hours and quantity at the group code level.

7) Clone Project

The Clone Project option allows users to copy an estimate and specify a new estimate code.

Previously, users would have to copy/paste line items from one estimate to another or create a “What-IF” project and change the project code.

Clone a project by right-clicking the project in the EPS and selecting “Clone Project”.
